A privately planned route through Nyerere, Mikumi, Udzungwa and Ruaha, with the stays and transfers shaped around your dates.
The route brings Nyerere National Park → Mikumi National Park → Udzungwa Mountains National Park → Ruaha National Park into one connected itinerary. Each overnight has a practical role in the journey, balancing time in the landscape with the transfers needed to move between places. Your travel dates, wildlife interests and preferred level of accommodation guide the final selection.
There is room to personalise the pace before booking: a longer stay in one area, a different room style, more time for photography or an island extension. Activities that need separate arrangements are added explicitly, so that the final plan remains clear about what is included.

DAY 1Nyerere National ParkDar es Salaam to Nyerere
+
Dar es Salaam to Nyerere

Fly from Dar es Salaam towards Nyerere, meet your guide and transfer to Rufiji River Camp. Settle into your tent beside the river and enjoy the first evening in the bush.
Nyerere’s river landscape creates a different safari atmosphere from the northern plains. Road and water-based experiences are separate arrangements, so the day follows the activities specified in your programme and the conditions around your camp. The day closes at Rufiji River Camp, with the meal basis shown in the programme.
DAY 2Nyerere National ParkThe Rufiji landscape
+
The Rufiji landscape

Explore Nyerere with your guide, following woodland tracks and riverine habitats. A boat activity can be considered where permitted and available; the final plan responds to season, water levels and your selected camp.

Back to the mainland gateway

Return towards Dar es Salaam by air, then continue by road to Mbuyuni Farm Retreat near Morogoro. Settle into your garden cottage after the transfer.
Today is shaped around the connection between the places in your itinerary. Your guide or transfer team will confirm the practical sequence, with room for appropriate stops and the conditions on the route. Keep the plan flexible enough to enjoy the setting rather than treat every possible activity as something that must fit into one day. The day closes at Mbuyuni Farm Retreat, with the meal basis shown in the programme.
DAY 4Mikumi National ParkMikumi wildlife country
+
Mikumi wildlife country

Continue to Mikumi for a guided game drive through its open plains and woodland. Spend the evening at Vuma Hills Tented Camp in the wooded hills above the park.
A Mikumi day works best with a clear wildlife-viewing focus and realistic transfer plans. Leave room to explore the park’s different habitats without treating it as a guarantee of particular species. Your guide will adapt the drive to local conditions. The day closes at Vuma Hills Tented Camp, with the meal basis shown in the programme.
DAY 5Udzungwa Mountains National ParkThe Udzungwa forest
+
The Udzungwa forest

Set out on a guided excursion to Udzungwa’s forest. Choose the walking route around your interests, fitness and current trail conditions, then return to Vuma Hills Tented Camp.
A day around Udzungwa is more about time on foot than covering a long list of stops. The chosen trail, weather and your walking pace guide the programme. Your final plan should identify the walk and any park-guide arrangements. The day closes at Vuma Hills Tented Camp, with the meal basis shown in the programme.
DAY 6TANZANIA / ARRIVAL & CONNECTIONSA highland pause

Into Ruaha

Travel into Ruaha and begin exploring its woodland, river habitats and rocky landscapes with your guide. Later, settle into Ruaha River Lodge beside the Great Ruaha River.
Ruaha is a place for longer looks at the landscape. Your guide can use the changing habitats and water sources to shape the drive, with time to appreciate the park’s scale. The route and the balance between exploring and resting respond to the season. The day closes at Ruaha River Lodge, with the meal basis shown in the programme.
